Photographer killed in Sirsa after being hit by speeding car during wedding shoot

Chandigarh, April 22

A 27-year-old photographer died in Sirsa on Wednesday after being struck by a speeding car while filming a wedding ceremony, police said. The accident occurred on Hisar Road near the Sirsa bus terminus. Police said CCTV footage shows the photographer standing on the road outside the venue, recording guests as they were leaving after the function.

Station House Officer Balraj of Civil Lines police station identified the victim as Malkit and said he was filming during the vidai ceremony when the incident occurred. “Malkit was busy capturing videos during the vidai ceremony at the wedding. The Ritz car, traveling at high speed, hit him, leaving Malkit no time to react,” he said.

The impact threw the photographer nearly 30 meters away. He was rushed to a hospital but later died from his injuries. Malkit was a resident of a village in Sirsa district. Police said the accused driver, identified as Sandeep from Fatehabad, was arrested and later released on bail. The video of the incident has circulated widely, and police said further action will follow as per the investigation.
