Jammu, April 22
Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, and Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh on Wednesday paid tribute to the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack on its first anniversary, reaffirming the country’s resolve to fight terrorism and expressing solidarity with the bereaved families.
Marking one year since the attack in which 26 people, including tourists and a local pony handler, were killed, the leaders described the incident as a brutal act of terror and said it wouldn’t be forgotten. Manoj Sinha said, “We won’t forget. We won’t forgive. This is our solemn vow. India stands unified against terrorism and remains committed to eradicating it from Jammu and Kashmir.” He also paid homage to the victims and extended his condolences to their families.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said the people of the Union Territory remain united against violence and determined to prevent such incidents in the future. “One year on, we remain united against terror and committed to ensuring such tragedies don’t recur,” he said, adding that the administration stands in solidarity with the families who lost their loved ones.
Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh said the tragedy continues to have a deep personal impact. He said the nation has endured immense pain but has also shown resilience in the face of adversity. Reiterating India’s firm stance, he said the country won’t bow to terrorism, and such acts of violence won’t succeed.
The attack, carried out by terrorists at Baisaran meadows in Pahalgam last year, had drawn widespread condemnation across the country. The anniversary observances underscored a continued commitment by the leadership to combat terrorism and support affected families.
The tributes highlight ongoing efforts to strengthen security and maintain peace in the region while ensuring that the memory of the victims remains honored.
