Chandigarh, April 21
Haryana Energy Minister Anil Vij on Monday said notices will be issued within 15 days under the Land Recovery Act to consumers whose electricity connections have been permanently disconnected, as part of efforts to recover pending dues across the state.
The minister said the move is aimed at recovering outstanding electricity dues, with special campaigns already underway to collect nearly Rs 8,200 crore. He added that coordination with various government departments is being strengthened to speed up the recovery process. “Special campaigns are being undertaken to recover the total outstanding amount of Rs 8,200 crore across the state, and coordination with government departments will further expedite the process,” Vij said.
According to an official statement, the minister has directed officials to complete the recovery exercise within the stipulated timeframe and ensure there is no negligence in implementation. Vij said strict measures are being taken to curb electricity theft and added that consumers found involved in such cases will be given one final opportunity to clear their dues through fresh notices issued under the Land Recovery Act.
He reiterated that the state’s power utilities remain committed to providing an uninterrupted, high-quality electricity supply. During a recent review meeting, officials were instructed to ensure there are no unnecessary disruptions to the power supply, especially during the summer season.
“Complaints related to power supply will be resolved promptly. Faulty transformers in urban areas must be replaced within two hours and within four hours in rural areas,” Vij said, directing officials to improve response times. He also instructed that adequate transformer banks and mobile trolleys be made available in every subdivision and that daily power supply data be submitted regularly to his office for monitoring.
Under the PM Surya Ghar Yojana, Vij said efforts will be accelerated to achieve the target of providing solar power connections to 2.2 lakh households by March 2027. The measures are expected to strengthen revenue recovery and improve power supply management across Haryana in the coming months.
