Dharamshala, April 20
Patients in Dharamshala will soon have access to enhanced Ayush healthcare facilities, including specialised Panchakarma treatment and private wards, with the construction of a new four-storey hospital building underway opposite the existing Ayush hospital at a cost of ₹12.5 crore.
According to official information, the project is being developed under the National Ayush Mission and implemented by the Ayush Department of Himachal Pradesh. The Public Works Department, which is executing the construction work, has already received ₹5 crore for the project.
Once completed, the new facility will increase the Ayush hospital’s total bed capacity from 20 to 50. The existing building currently has 20 beds, while the new structure will add 30.
The upcoming hospital building will function as a dedicated Ayush healthcare centre and will include specialised Panchakarma wards, private wards, indoor treatment facilities, and an administrative office. A yoga hall will also be developed, where residents will be able to participate in training sessions under the Sarvoday Yoga programme conducted by Ayush Department instructors.
Officials said work on the project has already begun and is progressing in phases. The expansion is expected to significantly strengthen Ayush-based healthcare services in the region and improve patient care infrastructure in Dharamshala.
