New Delhi, April 20
RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat on Monday said that Sanskrit is central to understanding India’s identity and cultural roots, and called for its wider promotion. Speaking at the inauguration of the central office of Samskrita Bharati, he described Sanskrit as a unifying thread that connects the country’s many languages. The RSS chief said India has many languages, each important in its own way, but described Sanskrit as a link that connects them all. He added that using the language more widely could help bring different linguistic traditions closer together.
He also described ‘Bharat’ as more than a geographical or political entity, calling it a living tradition shaped by knowledge and cultural continuity. He said understanding this tradition requires engaging with its intellectual heritage.
He added that promoting Sanskrit would not only enrich other Indian languages but also help people connect with ancient ideas and values that continue to influence society today.
