Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar took oath as a Rajya Sabha member on Friday and was administered by Rajya Sabha Chairman C P Radhakrishnan in his chamber. Kumar took the oath in Hindi. He was administered the oath in the presence of Union Minister J P Nadda, who is also the Leader of the House, along with Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Minister of State for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal.
Among those present at the ceremony were JDU leader and party working president Sanjay Kumar Jha, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh, and BJP MP and former Union minister Rajiv Pratap Rudy. With Kumar assuming his new role in the Rajya Sabha, his long tenure as Bihar Chief Minister comes to an end. The NDA is expected to elect a new chief minister of Bihar on April 14.
The development paves the way for a change of leadership in Bihar. Political attention will now turn to the NDA meeting scheduled for April 14, when the new chief minister is likely to be chosen.
