Famous deity Balu Nag of Banjar subdivision in Kullu district reached Dhalpur on Monday as part of his journey to Jagti Pat in Naggar after a gap of 14 years. Accompanied by hundreds of devotees, the deity arrived amid the beats of drums and traditional music. The procession also visited the temple of Lord Raghunath in Dhalpur, where rituals were performed and devotees offered prayers.
Deity Balu Nag had left his temple at Tandi on March 28 and was scheduled to reach Jagti Pat in Naggar on Tuesday. After completing rituals there, the deity will proceed to Vashisht in Manali before returning to his temple in Banjar. Balu Nag is believed to be an incarnation of Lord Lakshman and enjoys deep faith among devotees in both Kullu and Mandi districts. Devotees have been welcoming the deity with great enthusiasm at various places along the route.
Mohata of Deity Balu Nag, Balvir Thakur, said the deity began the journey from the temple on March 28 and has been receiving a grand welcome everywhere. He said the deity’s chariot is now heading towards Jagti Pat in Naggar, where religious rituals will be performed, before moving on to Vashisht.
Kardar of Deity Balu Nag, Khyali Ram Sharma, said the deity is highly revered in Kullu and Mandi districts, with large numbers of devotees joining the procession on foot to seek blessings. He said the journey is being carried out as per the deity’s directions and the deity will return to the temple after the rituals are completed.
