New Delhi, March 30

The Delhi Police have arrested a 47-year-old man from Karnataka’s Mysuru for sending more than 1,100 hoax bomb threats to schools, high courts and government offices across India. The accused, identified as Srinivas Louis, was arrested on Saturday from his rented accommodation in Mysuru during a joint operation by Delhi Police and local officers, officials said on Monday.

The arrest comes after a recent surge in bomb threat messages targeting the Delhi High Court, the Delhi Assembly, and several educational and government institutions.

The police said the suspect is a postgraduate and originally from Bengaluru. He is currently unemployed and lives with his mother, a retired government employee.

A senior police officer said preliminary investigations suggested the accused may have been under mental stress.

During initial questioning, police said, he admitted to sending more than 1,100 threat messages across the country through emails and other communication platforms.

Officials said multiple FIRs had been registered in different states in connection with the threats, and further investigation is under way.
