The Public sector and regional rural banks will remain open on Sunday, ahead of a proposed three-day nationwide bank strike from September 28 to 30, the Ministry of Finance said on Wednesday. The decision comes as September 26 and 27 are the preceding weekend holidays, raising concerns that customers could face an extended disruption to banking services.

The government and bank managements have appealed to the unions to defer the strike and said steps have been taken to ensure essential banking services continue.
