Dharamshala, March 28
Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale on Saturday stressed that inner spiritual peace is essential for achieving lasting global harmony, while addressing a religious conference in Dharamshala during his Himachal Pradesh visit.
Hosabale said world peace can only be realised when individuals cultivate values such as purity, compassion, penance and sacrifice. During his visit, he also paid a courtesy call on Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama and visited the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile.
Speaking at the event held at a community hall in Kotwali Bazaar and organised by Dev Bhoomi Maitri Sangh, Hosabale referred to the teachings of Gautama Buddha, saying Sanatan values are rooted in nature and service to humanity is the true essence of dharma.
He highlighted the sacrifices made by great personalities for the protection of dharma, citing Guru Tegh Bahadur’s martyrdom, and noted that the Dalai Lama continues to spread the message of peace across the world.
The conference was attended by the 7th Ling Rinpoche, who lauded the RSS for promoting unity, harmony and goodwill. He also called for collective efforts towards environmental protection, non-violence and global peace.
The event was organised to mark the 90th birthday of the Dalai Lama and the centenary year of the RSS, drawing hundreds of Buddhist followers from Kinnaur, Lahaul-Spiti, Kangra and other regions.
