Himachal Pradesh’s Congress government is preparing to mark three years in office with a large public rally in Mandi, where the party aims to mobilise around 25,000 supporters as part of its “Mission Repeat” campaign ahead of the 2027 election.
State Congress president Vinay Kumar told reporters in Shimla on Saturday that the event would highlight the government’s disaster-relief work, particularly in Mandi district, which suffered some of the heaviest damage during recent natural calamities. He said the rally would draw people aligned with the Congress ideology even though the organisation is still being restructured at the block and district levels.
The remarks came as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) held its own demonstration in Dharamshala against the government’s three-year tenure, vowing a return to power in 2027. He dismissed the BJP event as a “fragmented show of strength”, claiming that only 4,000–5,000 people attended and that it did not reflect any significant shift in political sentiment.
He said that the Congress plans to finalise its organisational restructuring by 8 December, after which new responsibilities would be assigned to senior leaders, women, youth members and performers from the recent panchayat elections. He also clarified that there are no plans to appoint a working president at this stage.
