The Himachal Pradesh Assembly on Friday concluded its winter session in Dharamshala, marking one of the most productive sittings held at the Tapovan complex in recent years. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said the session was the longest ever held in Kangra and reflected the strength of democratic processes. He said the House debated several key issues, passed significant bills and witnessed frequent opposition walkouts, which he described as part of a healthy democracy. Sukhu added that opposition leaders raised important matters that contributed to a more meaningful session and reinforced public interest.

Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania said eight sittings were conducted—something he described as a rare achievement for the venue. Pathania said the House worked for a total of 34 hours, registering 85% productivity, placing it among the most efficient state legislatures in the country. He added that the Assembly typically requires 35 sittings annually, and this year’s session came close to meeting that benchmark after several years.

The Speaker noted that Himachal Pradesh Assembly has maintained a strong record of productivity, achieving 98% efficiency in the current financial year and 132% last year, when the House worked beyond its allotted time. Most starred and unstarred questions were answered during Question Hour, he said, while the government has been instructed to provide pending responses at the start of the next session.
