Himachal Pradesh’s winter session of the Legislative Assembly will begin at Tapovan in Dharamshala, running from November 26 to December 5. Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania said the session will be the longest ever held in Dharamshala, with eight sittings scheduled for the first time—an increase from the previous maximum of seven. The session, usually convened in December, has been advanced to November to support tourism in the region.
Pathania said the Assembly has received 744 questions, including 604 starred and 140 unstarred questions, all submitted online despite both online and offline options being available. The Secretariat has also received 11 notices under Rule 62, four under Rule 63, seven items for Private Members’ Day, 16 notices under Rule 130, and one notice under Rule 324.
The session will open at 11am on November 26, with the House set to pay tribute to former MLA Babu Ram Gautam. Legislative business, including Question Hour, will follow on subsequent days. Private Members’ Business will take place on November 28 and December 4. The Assembly will also observe Constitution Day on Wednesday.
Pathania said media representatives will not be allowed to interact with anyone other than elected members inside the Assembly premises, a measure introduced to maintain decorum and ensure orderly proceedings. He added that land has been transferred for the International Convention Centre and that the Assembly building has been opened for tourism, with free entry for visitors, especially students.
