Shimla, November 25
Himachal Pradesh is experiencing a prolonged dry spell that has intensified winter discomfort, with warm days quickly giving way to biting cold after sunset. The Meteorological Centre in Shimla said no rain or snowfall is expected across the state until 30 November. November has so far recorded 92% below-normal rainfall, marking one of the driest spells in recent years. Shimla’s daytime temperature hovered around 15°C, while the minimum dropped to 6.4°C. Several regions have seen night temperatures fall by 3–4 degrees, sharpening the chill.
Sandeep Sharma, a scientist at the Shimla Meteorological Centre, said temperatures are dipping in many parts of the state, though most remain within the expected range for this time of year. He also warned of low visibility during early mornings around the Bhakra Dam area in Mandi and Bilaspur districts.
