Himachal Pradesh Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi on Tuesday said that the security agencies in the state had been placed on high alert following the deadly blast in Delhi. He added that border vigilance had been tightened as a precautionary measure. Speaking to reporters, Negi questioned the timing of the explosion, noting that such incidents often occur around election periods. “It is a serious question why these events happen only during elections,” he added.

Negi further alleged that former CM Jairam Thakur had been invited to the government’s relief programme but chose not to attend. “He could have presented his views directly before the Chief Minister,” he added. He alleged the Centre had failed to deliver on its promise of ₹1,500 crore in relief funds despite repeated appeals by the state government. “The BJP wants to see Himachal suffer. Since they couldn’t topple the government with money power, they are hoping nature will do it,” Negi said, accusing the party of prioritising politics over national interest.

On a separate note, Negi expressed grief over the recent fire in Jhanyiar village in Kullu’s Tirthan Valley, where several homes were destroyed. “Road expansion in the hills is challenging. The government is making continuous efforts, but such incidents often escalate rapidly due to geographical conditions,” he said.
