Public Works Minister Harbhajan Singh on Friday directed officials to fast-track road construction and repair projects in Shri Anandpur Sahib to ensure completion before 15 November 2025, ahead of the 350th Martyrdom Anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur. In a statement, the Public Works Minister said the Chandigarh Circle of the department had finalised a detailed plan for upgrading and maintaining key roads and lighting infrastructure. The total cost of the project is estimated at ₹24.51 crore.

The works include major upgrades on the Sri Anandpur Sahib–Dashmesh Academy Road, internal city roads and the Sri Anandpur Sahib–Sri Naina Devi route. About ₹23 crore has been earmarked for improving road surfaces, bridges and connecting lanes, while ₹77.58 lakh will be spent on special repair and maintenance works.

Lighting and electrical upgrades form another key component. This involves replacing damaged poles, installing LED lights and upgrading wiring to ensure safety and reliability.

The minister said the department is committed to ensuring smooth travel for pilgrims and residents during the historic commemoration.
