Punjab’s Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF), in a joint operation with Amritsar Rural Police, has arrested gangster Jasvir Singh alias Lalla — a key associate of foreign-based gangster Harpreet Singh, also known as Happy Jatt, and the Bambiha Gang. Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said on Friday that preliminary interrogation suggests Lalla was receiving instructions from foreign handlers to target rival gang members. He is wanted in multiple cases including murder, an attack on police personnel, and other violent crimes.
The Police recovered a foreign-made .30 calibre pistol and eight live cartridges during the operation. The arrest is seen as a significant step in the state’s efforts to dismantle organised crime networks operating with overseas support.
