Himachal Pradesh University Institute of Legal Studies hosted a Model United Nations and Youth Parliament competition, where Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla said India’s youth have the power to not only make the country a developed nation but also a global leader. Addressing the inaugural session, the Governor said platforms like the Youth Parliament channel youthful energy in the right direction. “Such initiatives help in steering the country toward the goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047,” he said, encouraging students to engage openly in discussions on national and global issues.

He highlighted how the younger generation in Himachal, while being part of “Gen Z,” still preserves cultural heritage — citing their participation in pulling Lord Raghunath’s chariot during the Kullu Dussehra. “Youth are not just the future of the country, they are its present. India’s democratic tradition is centuries old, and young people must use platforms like Youth Parliament to debate key national issues,” he added. The two-day event has drawn around 200 students from across the country and includes five different competitions.
