Punjab Police have uncovered a major pharmaceutical drug racket after seizing more than one lakh Tramadol tablets in Amritsar on Wednesday. The seizure was made when Amritsar Rural Police stopped a vehicle and arrested Jobanjit Singh, also known as Joban. The officers also recovered a Glock pistol, five live cartridges and a mobile phone during the operation. The case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and the Arms Act at Beas police station. The Police said they are working to trace the source of the tablets and busted the supply chain through forward and backward linkages. Punjab Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said the crackdown demonstrated the force’s determination to curb drug networks. “This is a major blow to the pharma-opioid trade. Punjab Police remains committed to ensuring a safe and drug-free state,” he said.
