The Punjab Vidhan Sabha on Tuesday paid heartfelt tribute to legendary Sikh marathoner Fauja Singh, who passed away at the age of 114 in a tragic road accident. On a motion moved by Punjab Parliamentary Affairs Minister Dr. Ravjot Singh, the House observed a moment of solemn remembrance for the iconic athlete. Recalling Fauja Singh’s contributions, Dr. Singh described him as a source of immense pride for the Sikh community and a symbol of resilience and determination who carried the spirit of Punjab across the globe.

“Fauja Singh Ji will always remain in our memories,” said the minister, noting how the centenarian runner inspired generations by participating in marathons well past the age of 100. “We pray for peace to the departed soul and strength to his family during this difficult time.” Fauza Singh, often referred to as the world’s oldest marathon runner, was killed yesterday when he was hit by a car while walking outside his residence. His passing has triggered an outpouring of grief across sporting and cultural circles, with many hailing him as a figure who defied age and championed health, faith, and discipline well into his twilight years.
