Punjab Minister for Renewable Energy and Governance Reforms Aman Arora hoisted the national flag at Sri Guru Gobind Singh Stadium during district-level Republic Day celebrations on Sunday. Addressing the gathering, Arora urged Punjabis to support the government’s vision of transforming the state into a progressive “Rangla Punjab.” Arora emphasized key government achievements, including renaming SAS Nagar Airport after Shaheed Bhagat Singh and displaying portraits of national icons Bhagat Singh and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar in offices. He noted the ex-gratia for martyred personnel had doubled to ₹1 crore, benefiting families of armed and police forces.
Highlighting employment efforts, he said that 50,000 government jobs were provided, alongside private-sector placements for 2.7 lakh youth. On healthcare, Arora announced the success of 881 Aam Aadmi Clinics serving 19 lakh patients and the establishment of 118 Schools of Eminence offering world-class education. In the power sector, he cited savings from acquiring a private thermal plant and reviving Pachwara coal mine. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to free electricity for farmers, costing ₹9,330 crore annually. Infrastructure initiatives included a ₹275-crore irrigation project in Jalandhar and the Sadak Surakhya Force for road safety.
Arora also celebrated the participation of over five lakh individuals in the “Khedan Watan Punjab Dian” sports festival. Earlier, he took the parade salute and honored ten families of martyrs from various conflicts.
