Kullu , May 8
Nomination process for the Panchayati Raj elections continued on Friday in Kullu, with former Zila Parishad member Vibha Singh and BJP-supported candidate Nisha Thakur filing their papers from Jyeshtha and Mohal wards, respectively.
Both candidates submitted their nomination forms at the SDM office in Kullu, marking a key step in the ongoing local body elections. Vibha Singh, who previously represented Dhaugi Ward as a Zila Parishad member, has entered the electoral fray once again from Jyeshtha Ward.
Nisha Thakur, contesting from Mohal Ward with the BJP’s support, also formally filed her nomination, joining the growing list of candidates in the district.
Following the nominations, both candidates have begun campaigning across rural areas, accompanied by their supporters.
Speaking after filing her nomination, Vibha Singh said she is well aware of the issues in the ward and would work towards resolving them in coordination with the administration. She highlighted concerns about the condition of the hospital in Gadsa Valley, noting that it is in poor condition and lacks night time medical services. She added that improving healthcare infrastructure, repairing the hospital building, ensuring night services, and addressing drinking water issues would be among her key priorities if elected.
Nisha Thakur said she has been entrusted with the party’s support and has started meeting villagers to understand their concerns. She expressed confidence that she would work towards addressing local issues effectively if elected.
