Kullu, May 1
Tourists are heading to Kullu to escape intense heat in the plains, finding relief in the cool waters of the Beas River and pleasant weather in the hills. With temperatures in several states touching 40 to 50 degrees Celsius, visitors are arriving in the region to enjoy river rafting and other adventure activities. The tourism season has begun, with higher footfall seen during weekends.
Hotel occupancy has reached around 70 percent in Manali, 60 percent in Manikaran, and 50 percent in Banjar, with bookings steadily rising for May and June. Tourism stakeholders expect a significant increase in visitors in the coming weeks. Tourists including Sunil, Sonal, Yogesh and Sulochna from different states said the cooler climate and scenic surroundings have offered a refreshing escape from the heat, with many enjoying river rafting and exploring nearby destinations.
