In a coordinated operation, the Counter Intelligence unit of Bathinda and the Bathinda Police have arrested three alleged operatives of the banned outfit Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) for painting pro-Khalistan slogans on the walls of schools in Bhissiana and Mananwala villages. Punjab’s Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav said on Friday that the trio had been working under the direction of US-based SFJ leader Gurpatwant Singh Pannu.
“The accused painted inflammatory slogans aimed at inciting public unrest and promoting anti-national sentiments,” Yadav said, adding that preliminary investigations suggest the group had been receiving foreign funding to carry out the activities. The graffiti, which appeared on school walls earlier this week, was designed to provoke communal tension and disturb public order, officials said.
DGP Yadav praised the swift response of police teams, noting that the operation was conducted professionally and scientifically to ensure that “no anti-national activity goes unchecked.” He further reiterated that the Punjab Police remain steadfast in its commitment to maintaining peace, harmony, and security across the state, even as authorities continue to track potential foreign influence in extremist propaganda.
