Kullu, April 21
With the onset of summer, tourist arrivals in Himachal Pradesh have begun to pick up, with popular destinations like Manali seeing a steady increase in footfall. Visitors are flocking to the hill town to enjoy its natural beauty and cool weather, even as temperatures continue to rise in the plains. Tourists said they are making the most of the pleasant climate and scenic surroundings, adding that. The region provides a welcome relief from the heat. Many also expressed excitement about participating in adventure activities, particularly river rafting, which has seen growing interest among visitors.
District Tourism Officer Kullu, Rohit Sharma, said the summer tourist season is gathering momentum, leading to an increase in arrivals across the district. He said that ensuring the safety of tourists participating in adventure sports remains a priority. “Pilots and guides associated with activities like river rafting and paragliding are responsible for informing tourists about all safety measures before the activity begins,” he said. He added that tourists are briefed on seating positions, take-off procedures, and essential safety protocols.
Sharma further said that authorities conduct random checks of pilots from time to time to ensure compliance with safety standards.
The rise in tourist activity is expected to boost the local economy while reinforcing Manali’s position as a preferred summer destination.
