Quad condemns Pahalgam terror attack

The Quad has strongly condemned the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, calling it a “reprehensible act” and urging immediate action to bring those responsible to justice. The foreign ministers of the Quad countries—India, the United States, Australia, and Japan—on Wednesday issued a joint statement denouncing the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed the lives of 25 Indian nationals and one Nepali citizen.

In their joint declaration following the Quad Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Washington, the leaders offered their condolences to the families of the victims and wished a full recovery to those injured. “We condemn in the strongest terms the terrorist attack in Pahalgam… and express our deepest condolences,” the statement said.  Labeling the attack as a “reprehensible act,” the Quad partners called for the perpetrators, organisers, and financiers of the violence to be “brought to justice without any delay.” They urged all UN Member States to cooperate in accordance with international law and relevant UN Security Council resolutions.

The four-nation alliance also reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to counterterrorism cooperation and condemned terrorism in all its forms, including cross-border terrorism. The ministers emphasised the need for global collaboration in combating violent extremism and preventing such attacks in the future.
