In a major breakthrough, Punjab’s Counter-Intelligence unit in Amritsar has arrested two individuals allegedly involved in a cross-border arms smuggling operation linked to a Pakistan-based handler. The suspects, identified as Sukhchain Singh and Jugraj Singh, were intercepted while transporting a cache of illegal weapons. Acting on precise intelligence inputs, the police traced the arms consignment to a Pakistani smuggler named Noor, said the DGP Gaurav Yadav in his post on X.
The police recovered a total of eight weapons from the duo, including three Glock 9mm pistols, four Px5 pistols, and one .30 bore pistol. An FIR has been registered at the State Special Operation Cell (SSOC) police station in Amritsar. Officials said further investigation is underway to identify additional handlers and expose the wider smuggling network operating along the border.
