Chandigarh, July 11

Punjab has digitised more than one crore enumeration forms within the first 16 days of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise, marking significant progress in the ongoing electoral roll revision, Chief Electoral Officer Anindita Mitra said on Saturday.

According to the Chief Electoral Officer, 99.34 percent of the enumeration forms have already been distributed across the state. She said the collection and digitisation of these forms play a key role in maintaining accurate electoral rolls and strengthening the democratic process.

Mitra appreciated the efforts of Booth Level Officers (BLOs), supervisors, Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) and Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) for ensuring the timely distribution, collection and digitisation of forms across all 117 Assembly constituencies and 24,453 polling stations in Punjab.

To encourage greater public participation, the Election Department has organised special camps at all polling stations on July 11 and 12 from 8 am to 3 pm. During the camps, voters can complete, submit and digitise their enumeration forms while also verifying and updating their electoral details. Officials will also address anomalies and linkage discrepancies during the exercise.

The Chief Electoral Officer said Booth Level Officers are reaching out to more than 2.14 crore electors across Punjab as part of the SIR exercise, which will continue until July 24. The rationalisation of polling stations is also scheduled to be completed by the same date.

The draft electoral rolls will be published on August 3. Claims and objections can be submitted between August 3 and September 2, while their disposal will continue until September 28. The final electoral rolls are scheduled to be published on October 1.

Mitra urged all eligible citizens to actively participate in the special camps and ensure that their electoral details are complete, accurate and up to date to support free, fair and transparent elections.
