Chandigarh, September 10
The Punjab government has declared a holiday in the state as a mark of respect following the death of former Cabinet Minister Chuni Lal Bhagat. An official spokesperson said all government offices, boards and corporations, as well as educational institutions, will remain closed for the rest of the day on Thursday.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan have expressed grief over the death of veteran politician and former Punjab minister Chuni Lal Bhagat. In post on X, Chief Minister Mann described the death as deeply sad and extended his sympathies to Bhagat’s son Cabinet Minister Mohinder Bhagat.
