New Delhi, June 9
A new retail model combining online purchases with exclusive in-person experiences has received a strong response, with pre-bookings for the debut footwear collection of sportswear brand one8 selling out within minutes on District by Zomato.
The initiative attracted buyers from several cities across the country, including Delhi, Goa, Chennai, Jammu, Indore, Mysore, Panipat, and Lucknow. Customers who secured pre-bookings will attend the one8 Global Premiere scheduled for June 21 at Yashobhoomi in New Delhi, where they will collect their footwear and participate in a specially curated launch event.
The format is being viewed as a fresh approach to experiential retail, bringing together product sales and consumer engagement through a large-scale launch experience rather than a conventional retail rollout.
The footwear collection marks the first public release of one8’s sneaker range and features cricket-inspired product lines, as well as a multi-activity training shoe designed for fitness enthusiasts.
Abhishek Ganguly, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Agilitas Sports, said the overwhelming response reflects growing consumer confidence in Indian sportswear brands and demand for unique launch experiences.
Rahul Ganjoo, Chief Executive Officer of District by Zomato, said consumer preferences are increasingly shifting towards experiences that combine shopping with participation in large-scale cultural and lifestyle events. He noted that buyers from multiple cities are expected to travel to New Delhi for the launch program.
The Global Premiere on June 21 is expected to bring together sneaker enthusiasts, sports fans, and consumers from across India, underscoring the growing importance of experience-led retail formats in the country’s evolving consumer market.
