Himachal Pradesh Education Minister Rohit Thakur inspected the Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS) in Udaipur during his October 29, 2026 visit to tribal Lahaul, interacted with students, and reviewed educational facilities. He also met teachers to discuss education-related issues and assured them of an early resolution. Lahaul-Spiti MLA Anuradha Rana accompanied him during the visit.
At the school, Thakur reviewed the facilities available to students, academic arrangements, and teaching activities. He interacted with students about their studies and the facilities provided at the institution, encouraging them to set goals and work hard to achieve them. He also directed officials to ensure a better learning environment and continuous improvement in education quality.
During a meeting at the Public Works Department rest house in Udaipur, teachers raised various education-related issues before the minister. Thakur heard their concerns and assured them that efforts would be made to resolve them at the earliest.
Thakur said the state government was committed to providing quality education to children in remote and tribal areas. He said introducing the CBSE curriculum in government schools aimed to improve educational opportunities and prepare students for competitive examinations.
He also said the state’s education reforms had produced positive results and claimed Himachal Pradesh had secured third place nationally in education.
During the visit, Thakur offered prayers at the Trilokinath Temple and Mrikula Devi Temple. He also met Major Paras Kochhar, officer commanding of the Border Roads Organization’s 94 Road Construction Company (RCC), to discuss issues related to the Sansari-Killar-Tindi-Tandi (SKTT) road.
