New Delhi, December 2
The Central Government has approved a major renaming drive for some of the country’s most prominent official buildings, including Raj Bhavans and the Prime Minister’s Office. The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has been renamed Seva Teerth, while the Central Secretariat will be called Kartavya Bhavan. The Prime Minister’s official residence and principal workplace is located at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg. Under the changes, Raj Bhavans — the official residences of state governors — will now be known as Lok Bhavans. Officials said the revised names are intended to reflect a stronger emphasis on public service, duty and citizen engagement. The decision marks one of the most significant symbolic shifts in government nomenclature in recent years.
