Shimla, June 12
Union Health Minister and BJP national president Jagat Prakash Nadda on Friday said that the 12 years of the Narendra Modi-led government would be remembered as transformative years that laid a strong foundation for a developed India, highlighting major policy decisions, infrastructure growth and welfare initiatives undertaken during the period.
Addressing an intellectuals’ conference organized by the BJP in Shimla under the campaign “12 Years of Trust, Development and Public Welfare”, Nadda said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s tenure has brought a shift in Indian politics from casteism, dynastic politics and corruption to governance, accountability and public service.
He said several landmark decisions, including the abrogation of Article 370, the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, the abolition of triple talaq, and implementation of the Citizenship Amendment Act, had reshaped the country’s future. According to him, the BJP’s return to power for a third consecutive term reflects public confidence in the government’s development and welfare agenda.
Highlighting India’s achievements, Nadda said the country has emerged as a more confident and self-reliant nation, particularly in the defense sector. He cited a significant rise in defense exports and pointed to milestones such as the success of Chandrayaan-3, preparations for the Gaganyaan mission, expansion of Vande Bharat trains and the Digital India initiative.
The Union Minister also highlighted the Center’s development initiatives in Himachal Pradesh. He said railway electrification in the state has been completed, while more than 14,400 kilometers of rural roads have been constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana.
Nadda said major healthcare and infrastructure projects, including AIIMS Bilaspur, medical colleges in Chamba, Hamirpur and Nahan, and national highway expansion works, have accelerated development in the hill state. He added that under the Jal Jeevan Mission, tap water connections have reached all households in Himachal Pradesh, while schemes such as Ujjwala Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana have benefited lakhs of families.
Calling for collective efforts to achieve Viksit Bharat by 2047, Nadda urged citizens to actively contribute to nation-building and support the country’s long-term development vision.
BJP state president Rajeev Bindal, Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur, MPs Harsh Mahajan, Suresh Kashyap and Sikander Kumar, along with party legislators and senior BJP leaders, were present at the event.
