Patiala, May 27

The mystery surrounding the body of a young girl recovered from a blue drum near Patiala’s DCW bridge continues to deepen after police confirmed that the deceased remains unidentified.

According to police officials, efforts have been underway since the shocking recovery to establish the identity of the victim. Earlier, police suspected the body could belong to a missing girl named Neha after a man identified as Sant Lal filed a missing person complaint at Civil Lines Police Station regarding his daughter.

However, when the family was taken to the mortuary for identification, they informed police that the deceased girl was not their daughter. Following this development, investigators restarted the identification process and widened the probe.

Police revealed that the unidentified girl had “Neha” tattooed on one arm, while the other arm bore the letters “N A” and a heart-shaped tattoo. Authorities believe these markings could help in identifying the victim.

DSP-2 Jangjeet Singh Randhawa stated that details regarding the unidentified body have been shared with police stations across Punjab. He assured that any breakthrough in the investigation or the identification of the victim would be communicated to the media immediately.

The gruesome incident has sparked concern and fear among local residents, while police continue to investigate all possible angles in the case.
