Sheron says he will join the September 13 Sangrur protest and seek justice for Gulzar Singh

Patiala, September 10

Mohanjit Singh Sheron, who had displayed black flags during a programme of the Chief Minister, was discharged from Rajindra Hospital in Patiala on September 10. His supporters gathered at the hospital.

Speaking after his discharge, Sheron said he would continue to fight over what he alleged was torture by Sangrur police. He said the matter would be pursued ’till the last breath’ and appealed to people to attend a major protest announced in Sangrur on September 13.

Sheron also spoke about the death by suicide of labourer Gulzar Singh of Toor Vanjara village. He alleged that the family had been made to give statements under pressure from the government. Sheron said he would meet Gulzar Singh’s family after returning and join a struggle seeking justice for him.

On his health, Sheron said he would continue his treatment at DMC Ludhiana, citing the poor conditions at Rajindra Hospital. He did not elaborate further on the nature of his treatment.

After leaving the hospital, Sheron also made allegations concerning the sale of drugs at the medical facility. He claimed that he had personally seen drugs being sold at Rajindra Hospital and said he had evidence to support the allegation.

The claims regarding alleged police torture, pressure on Gulzar Singh’s family and drug sales at the hospital could not be independently verified from the information provided.

A large number of Sheron’s supporters reached Rajindra Hospital around the time of his discharge. His lawyer was also present.
