Chandigarh, August 6
Christian Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) in Ludhiana is now the world’s first WHO Collaborating Centre (WHO CC) for stroke care. This milestone, led by Dr. Jeyaraj D Pandian, principal and professor of Neurology at CMCH, marks a significant achievement in global stroke treatment, as reported by The Tribune.
The collaboration with WHO Southeast Asian Region (WHO SEAR) and WHO Headquarters began in 2015 and aims to enhance stroke care worldwide. Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh recently inaugurated the centre. Key initiatives include developing stroke care manuals and training programs in Bhutan, Maldives, Myanmar, and Nepal. CMCH’s efforts have already led to improvements in stroke care infrastructure and guidelines in these countries.
