A low-intensity blast was reported inside the premises of the Moga Sadar police station in Punjab on Thursday. No injuries or damage to property were reported in the incident. Police have launched an investigation and stepped up security while efforts are underway to identify those responsible. According to police sources, unidentified persons allegedly threw an object into the police station complex, triggering the explosion. Following the incident, a high alert was sounded, and security was tightened in the area as police began a search operation to trace the suspects.
Senior Superintendent of Police Faridkot Gurbans Singh Bains, who is also holding the additional charge of SSP Moga, confirmed that the incident involved a low-intensity blast. However, he said it was too early to determine the exact nature of the object used. Bains said forensic experts have reached the spot and are collecting evidence. He said the nature of the object will be established only after the forensic examination is completed.
Police have also started scanning CCTV footage from the surrounding area to identify the suspects and establish the sequence of events leading to the blast. The incident comes amid previous attacks targeting police establishments in Punjab. The investigation is continuing, and officials are awaiting the forensic report to determine the exact cause of the explosion.
