Dharamshala, July 6
Following a series of theft and robbery incidents in Kangra district, the police have intensified their investigation and are gathering forensic evidence to identify those involved. Officials say several crucial leads have emerged, and the accused are expected to be arrested soon.
Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Veer Bahadur said that in the recent burglary at a house in Fatehpur under the Dharamshala police station area, thieves decamped with gold, silver and other valuables. Police, along with the forensic team, collected evidence from the crime scene. He said the burglars tampered with the CCTV cameras and took the DVR, indicating they were experienced offenders. Despite this, the investigation is progressing on all fronts.
The ASP said another burglary was reported from Thanpuri in the Nagrota police station area, where miscreants entered a house and stole cash along with gold and silver jewellery. He added that investigators have secured important clues in the case and the probe is continuing.
Referring to the recent robbery at a liquor outlet, Veer Bahadur said the vehicle used in the crime has been recovered and efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the accused. He expressed confidence that all the recent cases would be solved soon and those responsible would be brought to justice.
The ASP also urged residents to remain cautious during the monsoon season and to avoid leaving their homes unattended. If travel is unavoidable, he advised people to entrust the property’s supervision to a reliable person and keep cash and valuable jewellery in bank lockers or other secure locations. He further recommended storing CCTV footage on cloud-based platforms so that recordings remain accessible even if the DVR is stolen.
