Pathania says around Rs 4,000 crore compensation has been paid; remaining land acquisition and R&R process to be completed soon

Kangra, September 4

Shahpur MLA Kewal Singh Pathania on Friday said the expansion of Kangra Airport has reached its final stage, with the remaining land acquisition and rehabilitation and resettlement (R&R) process expected to be completed soon.

After attending an organizational meeting in Delhi, Pathania visited Kangra Airport and spoke to the media on various issues, including the airport expansion, university recruitments, and permission to display flags on MLAs’ vehicles.

Pathania said around Rs 4,000 crore in compensation had already been paid to people affected by the airport expansion. He said the remaining land acquisition and R&R process would be completed soon.

On pending cases involving residents of the Gaggal area, Pathania said Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu had assured him in the Assembly that the matter would be considered.

Regarding affected people in Sanaura who have not received R&R assistance, he said the issue had already been addressed in the Assembly and the district administration would take further action after the session.

On recruitment in state universities, Pathania said professors, assistant professors and lecturers were earlier appointed through interviews. The government has now decided to conduct recruitment through tests, which he described as a welcome step for the state’s youth and meritorious candidates.

On allowing flags on MLAs’ vehicles, Pathania thanked the Chief Minister and Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania. He said the relevant rules were framed during the previous BJP government and had now been amended.
