India’s coal production and dispatch saw steady growth in January, with total output reaching 104.43 million tonnes (MT), a 4.38% increase from 100.05 MT a year earlier, the Ministry of Coal said on Monday. Production from Captive, Commercial, and other entities surged 31.07% to 19.68 MT, up from 15.01 MT in January 2024. Cumulative coal production for April 2024 – January 2025 stood at 830.66 MT, marking a 5.88% rise from 784.51 MT in the corresponding period last year. Coal dispatch in January rose 6.31% to 92.40 MT, up from 86.92 MT a year earlier. Dispatch from captive and other Entities surged 29.94% to 17.72 MT, compared to 13.64 MT in January 2024. Cumulative dispatch up to January reached 843.75 MT, a 5.73% increase from 798.02 MT in the previous year, underscoring strong demand and a stable supply chain.
