Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Friday said that it was examining the disclosure that the Trump administration allocated $21 million in USAID funding for voter turnout efforts in India. The ministry described the revelation as “deeply concerning” and confirmed that relevant authorities were looking into the matter.
“External Affairs Minister Dr S. Jaishankar met Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, and discussed multiple issues, including the recent U.S.-Russia talks in Riyadh,” the MEA spokesman said.
During a press briefing, the MEA spokesperson addressed Dr Jaishankar’s meeting with Bangladeshi Foreign Affairs Advisor Touhid Hossain in Muscat. The spokesperson stated that the Bangladesh side raised the issue of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC), while India stressed that Dhaka should not “normalise terrorism.”
