Shimla, June 20
The Meteorological Department has forecast thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds in parts of Himachal Pradesh from June 20 to 22, issuing a yellow warning for isolated areas across 7 to 10 districts of the state.
The weather department predicted gusty winds of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour, along with thunderstorms and lightning, on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. The state is likely to continue witnessing a wet spell till June 25.
Several parts of Himachal Pradesh received light to moderate rainfall in the 24 hours ending at 4 pm on Friday. Thunderstorms and lightning were reported in areas including Sundernagar, Kufri, Bhuntar and Jot, according to the Met office.
Saloni in Chamba district recorded the highest rainfall at 31.2 mm, followed by Dharamshala with 18 mm and Jot with 12 mm. Other areas that received rainfall included Bhareri (11.2 mm), Solan (6.8 mm), Pachhad (6 mm), Jogindernagar (4 mm), Ghaghas (3.4 mm), Bharmaur (3 mm), and Dehra Gopipur (2.4 mm).
On the temperature front, Kukumseri recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 6.8 degrees Celsius, while Neri recorded the highest daytime temperature of 37.4 degrees Celsius.
The weather department has advised people to remain cautious during thunderstorms and lightning activity in the affected districts.
