Chandigarh, June 10
Haryana Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shyam Singh Rana on Wednesday directed officials to ensure adequate fertilizer availability across the state ahead of the upcoming Kharif season, stressing that farmers should not face shortages, delays, or inconvenience during the sowing period.
The directions were issued during a high-level review meeting chaired by the minister, which was attended by senior officials of the Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Department, HAFED, and representatives of leading fertilizer manufacturing and marketing companies.
During the meeting, Rana reviewed the existing fertilizer stock position and assessed preparations related to anticipated demand, transportation, distribution, and supply chain management for the forthcoming Kharif season.
The minister instructed officials to continue fertilizer distribution through the Meri Fasal Mera Byora portal, citing the transparency and efficiency achieved through the system in previous seasons. He said fertilizers should be supplied based on crop and acreage details uploaded by farmers, ensuring genuine beneficiaries receive the required inputs without disruption.
Rana also directed officials to maintain strict vigilance against hoarding and black marketing. He warned that any attempt to exploit farmers through illegal stockpiling or unauthorized sales would invite stringent legal action. Officials were asked to conduct regular inspections of fertilizer dealer stocks and closely monitor distribution channels.
Sharing his agricultural experience, the minister encouraged officials to promote modern farming techniques among cultivators. He highlighted the benefits of sprinkler irrigation and the application of fertilizers through irrigation systems directly to crop root zones, saying such practices can help conserve water while improving nutrient efficiency, crop quality, and productivity.
Representatives of fertilizer companies assured the government of uninterrupted supplies and pledged full cooperation to ensure the timely availability of fertilizers across districts, in accordance with state requirements.
Additional Chief Secretary Vijayendra Kumar, Director General Rajnarayan Kaushik, HAFED Managing Director Anish Yadav, and senior departmental and technical officials attended the meeting.
The state government has directed departments to complete all arrangements for stock management and distribution well before the commencement of the Kharif season to ensure the smooth availability of fertilizers for farmers across Haryana.
