Chandigarh, July 9
Punjab Revenue, Rehabilitation and Disaster Management Minister S. Hardeep Singh Mundian met representatives of the numberdar union and assured them that their legitimate demands would be addressed on a priority basis.
During the meeting, the union requested that a dedicated day be reserved exclusively for numberdars to obtain health cards under the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana (MMSY).
Responding to the demand, Mundian said all Deputy Commissioners would be instructed to designate a special day for issuing health cards to Numberdars to make the process more convenient. He added that a letter would soon be issued to all Deputy Commissioners directing them to reserve one day specifically for this purpose.
The union also sought an increase in the honorarium paid to numberdars. Addressing the issue, the minister said he would raise the matter with Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and that every possible effort would be made to enhance their honorarium.
“The Punjab Government is committed to the welfare of Numberdars and fully recognises and respects the important role they play in the administrative structure of villages,” Mundian said.
The minister also heard the union’s other demands and assured members that all their legitimate concerns would be resolved on a priority basis.
Additional Chief Secretary-cum-Financial Commissioner (Revenue) Anurag Verma, Special Secretary-cum-Director, Land Records, Paramvir, and other senior officials were also present at the meeting.
