Union places long-pending demands before 8th Pay Commission, seeks five-tier structure, uniform recruitment rules and Special Area Allowance

Chandigarh, September 18

The GMCH Anaesthesia Technical Staff Union (Regd.), GMCH-32, has raised a set of long-pending demands before the 8th Central Pay Commission, seeking higher entry-level pay, a structured cadre hierarchy and uniform recruitment rules for anaesthesia technical staff across the country.

A delegation led by Anil Kumar, along with Anil Sinha, Rakesh Yadav and Navneet Kaur, represented the anaesthesia cadre during an interaction with the Commission at Satluj Hall, Hotel Hyatt Regency, Chandigarh.

The union demanded Level-6 as the entry-level post, citing the recommendations of the 5th and 6th Central Pay Commissions. It also sought implementation of the NCAHP Act, 2021, with a four-year B.Sc. qualification and the entry designation of Anaesthesia and OT Technologist at Level-6.

The delegation also sought a five-tier cadre hierarchy on a par with nursing and laboratory cadres, uniform recruitment rules and designations across India, and Special Area Allowance on a par with nursing staff for duties performed in operation theatres, ICUs and emergency departments.

The union’s General Secretary said the Commission heard the delegation’s submissions in detail and allowed it to present supporting evidence. The union said the response from the Commission was positive and encouraging.
