A controversy has emerged at Eternal University in Himachal Pradesh’s Sirmaur district after girl students alleged that a sanitation worker recorded videos inside a hostel bathroom. The incident triggered protests on campus and prompted police intervention, following a delay in reporting by the university administration.
According to student allegations, the accused worker had allegedly filmed videos inside the girls’ hostel washroom area. The students raised the issue with the university administration and expressed strong anger over the incident, leading to protests on campus.
Sources indicate that the university administration informed the Pachhad police nearly two and a half hours after receiving the complaint, as the situation escalated with student protests.
Police officials later reached the campus and initiated an investigation into the matter. The accused, reportedly a laborer originally from Jharkhand, was allegedly attempting to flee the premises when students intervened and caught him. He was later handed over to the police after being allegedly assaulted, according to sources.
However, police authorities have not yet confirmed any arrests in the case.
Superintendent of Police Nishchint Singh Negi said that the investigation is underway. He added that police teams are conducting on-the-spot inquiries and collecting relevant information about the incident.
The matter has raised serious concerns about campus safety and security in hostels. Police investigation is ongoing, and further action will depend on the findings of the inquiry.
