The Election Commission of India has released a comprehensive set of guidelines for candidates and political parties contesting the upcoming Haryana Assembly elections. According to the news outlet The Tribune, Haryana Chief Electoral Officer Pankaj Agarwal emphasized that criticism during the campaign should be strictly limited to the policies, programs, past records, and actions of opposing parties and candidates. He also highlighted the importance of securing appropriate permissions for public meetings, processions, and the use of loudspeakers to ensure compliance with local regulations.
Agarwal further stated that all political parties and candidates should have equal access to public spaces, such as grounds and helipads, during their campaigns. The routes for any processions should be pre-approved to avoid traffic disruptions, and all election activities should be conducted peacefully, with the cooperation of election officials, The Tribune reported. Any complaints or issues related to the election process should be promptly reported to the relevant authorities, including the Election Commission Observer or the Chief Electoral Officer.
