Dominica confers top award on PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was conferred the “Dominica Award of Honour,” the Commonwealth of Dominica’s highest national award, in recognition of his global statesmanship, support during the COVID-19 pandemic, and efforts to strengthen ties between India and Dominica. The honor was presented by Dominica’s President Sylvanie Burton during a ceremony held on November 20  on the sidelines of the Second India-CARICOM Summit. The event was attended by Dominica’s Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit, along with regional leaders, including Guyana’s President Irfaan Ali, Barbados’ Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley, Grenada’s Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell, Saint Lucia’s Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre, and Antigua and Barbuda’s Prime Minister Gaston Browne.

Prime Minister Modi dedicated the award to the people of India and the shared cultural and historical ties between India and Dominica. Expressing gratitude, he emphasized the growing bilateral relationship and voiced optimism for deeper cooperation in the years to come.

The award highlights India’s expanding diplomatic engagements and influence in the Caribbean, further cementing its role in fostering global partnerships.
