Delhi witnessed a warm Tuesday morning with the minimum temperature settling at 28.2 degrees Celsius, prompting the India Meteorological Department to issue a yellow alert for heatwave conditions across parts of the national capital. The weather department has forecast that the maximum temperature may reach around 44 degrees Celsius during the day.
According to the IMD, isolated areas in Delhi are likely to experience heatwave-like conditions. A yellow alert issued by the department advises residents to stay informed and take precautions as temperatures rise.
Among the city’s weather observatories, Safdarjung recorded a minimum temperature of 28.2 degrees Celsius, which was 1.7 degrees above normal. Palam registered 28.1 degrees Celsius, while Lodhi Road recorded 27 degrees Celsius. The Ridge station reported 28.1 degrees Celsius, and Ayanagar recorded 27.4 degrees Celsius.
Meanwhile, Delhi’s air quality remained in the moderate category on Tuesday morning. Data released by the Central Pollution Control Board showed the Air Quality Index at 189 at 9 am.
According to CPCB standards, an AQI between 101 and 200 falls within the moderate category and may cause breathing discomfort for sensitive groups.
The prevailing weather conditions are expected to keep temperatures high across the city over the next few days, with authorities advising people to avoid prolonged exposure to heat during peak afternoon hours.
