Dehra to get Himachal’s first ozone-based water treatment project: CM Sukhu

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Saturday announced the state’s first ozone-based drinking water treatment project in Dehra of Kangra district, at an estimated cost of ₹46 crore.

Addressing a public meeting at Baddal Thor in the Dehra Assembly constituency, Sukhu said the project would provide clean and safe drinking water to residents and could later be replicated in other parts of the state. He also announced the opening of a veterinary hospital at Baddal Thor to strengthen animal healthcare services in the area.

The Chief Minister said providing safe drinking water was a priority, noting that contaminated water could lead to several health problems.

Sukhu also referred to the Mukhyamantri Ka Apna Parivar Sukhi Parivar Yojana, under which surveys have begun in panchayats to ensure that government schemes and resources reach people at the grassroots.

He said the government was also involving young people and women’s groups in plantation and forest conservation through the Rajiv Gandhi Van Samvardhan Yojana.

On education, the Chief Minister said CBSE schools had been opened in the state and more would be established in the future.

Responding to reports of a person from Himachal Pradesh missing in Nepal following the recent floods, Sukhu said the state government had received information about one missing person but that he did not want to comment further without complete details.

He said the matter was being discussed with the Nepal Embassy.
